CfA: Latin American Studies Association awards, fellowships & lectureships


The deadline for submitting nominations and applications for the  Latin American Studies Association (LASA) Congress awards, lectureships, and fellowships (described below), is Next Thursday, October 15th. Please send us your nomination/application with all the information required to be considered.

 

LASA awards:

Kalman Silvert Award:

http://lasa.international.pitt.edu/eng/awards/silvert.asp - needs a substantive nomination letter by a LASA member and the nominee's current curriculum vitae.

 

Premio Iberoamericano Book Award:

http://lasa.international.pitt.edu/eng/awards/iberoamericano.asp - individuals who nominate books are responsible for confirming the publication date and for forwarding one copy directly to each member of the award committee, at the expense of those submitting the books.

 

Bryce Wood Book Award:

http://lasa.international.pitt.edu/eng/awards/brycewood.asp - a nomination packet should include a copy of the nominated book and the nominee’s complete mailing address, telephone and fax numbers, and e-mail address.

 

Luciano Tomassini Book Award:

http://lasa.international.pitt.edu/eng/awards/tomassini.asp -  a nomination packet should include a statement justifying the nomination; a copy of the nominated book; and the complete mailing address, telephone and fax numbers, and e-mail address of the nominee.

 

Media Award:

Other award/fellowships:

Charles A. Hale Fellowship for Mexican History:

http://lasa.international.pitt.edu/eng/awards/hale.asp -  please send verification by the dissertation committee chair of the student’s good standing in the doctoral program, a one-page (single-spaced) statement that summarizes the dissertation project, in either English or Spanish, and a brief (two pages maximum) curriculum vitae.

 

LASA/Oxfam America Martin Diskin Dissertation Award:

http://lasa.international.pitt.edu/eng/awards/diskin_dissertation.asp - applicants should submit a current curriculum vitae; a dissertation abstract of 250 words; the dissertation outline or table of contents; one sample chapter, which exemplifies the author’s approach to activist scholarship; and a letter of recommendation from the candidate’s primary advisor which focuses explicitly on the candidate’s qualifications for the Martin Diskin Dissertation Award.
